Linda Purl is an American actress born on September 2, 1955, in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is known for her various roles in movies and TV shows. Purl played Ashley Pfister, Fonzie's girlfriend, on Happy Days and later portrayed Sheila Munroe in the 1982 horror film Visiting Hours. She also appeared as Pam Beesly's mother Helene in The Office and as Charlene Matlock on the first season of the television series Matlock. Purl's acting career began in Japan, where she moved with her family at the age of five. She trained in acting at the Toho Geino Academy and performed in several plays at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo.
