Lindsay Crouse is an American actress, known for her work in film, television, and theater. She was born on May 12, 1948, in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Crouse made her Broadway debut in the 1972 revival of Much Ado About Nothing and appeared in her first film, All the President's Men, in 1976. She received critical acclaim for her role in the 1984 film Places in the Heart, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Crouse has appeared in various other films, including Slap Shot, Between the Lines, The Verdict, Prefontaine, and The Insider. She also had a leading role in the 1987 film House of Games, directed by her former husband, David Mamet. Additionally, Crouse received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her performance in an episode of CBS Schoolbreak Special called 'Between Mother and Daughter' in 1996. She is also a Grammy Award nominee.
