Lisa Ray

Lisa Rani Ray is a Canadian actress who began her modeling career in India in the early 1990s. She appeared in leading Indian brands like Bombay Dyeing and Lakmé before making her acting debut in the Tamil film Nethaji in 1996. Ray's first Bollywood appearance was in the 2001 film Kasoor. Known for her issue-oriented portrayals, she gained recognition for her roles in the Oscar-nominated Canadian film Water (2005) and the award-winning South African feature The World Unseen. In 2009, Ray was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable form of blood cancer. She has since become an advocate for stem-cell therapy and has written about her experiences in her blog, The Yellow Diaries.
