    Elizabeth Lynne Cheney, born on July 28, 1966, is an American attorney and politician. She served as the representative of Wyoming's at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Cheney also held the position of chair of the House Republican Conference from 2019 to 2021, making her the third-highest-ranking member in the House Republican leadership. Known for her outspoken opposition to former president Donald Trump, Cheney currently serves as a professor of practice at the University of Virginia Center for Politics. She is the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney and Lynne Cheney and has held several positions in the U.S. State Department during the George W. Bush administration, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs and Coordinator for Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiatives.
