Lori Singer (born November 6, 1957) is an American actress and musician. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in Portland, Oregon. Singer began her musical career as a cellist, making her debut with the Oregon Symphony at thirteen. She later attended the Juilliard School and became the institution's youngest graduate. In the early 1980s, Singer shifted her focus to acting and signed with Elite Model Management. She rose to fame for her role as Julie Miller in the television series Fame from 1982 to 1983. Singer gained further recognition for her lead role as Ariel Moore in the film Footloose (1984). She has also appeared in other notable films such as The Falcon and the Snowman (1985) and Warlock (1989).
