Lori Tan Chinn is an American actress and comedian known for her roles in various movies and TV shows. She gained recognition for her recurring character in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Currently, Chinn stars as Awkwafina's grandmother on Comedy Central's Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens (2020–present). Prior to her TV work, Chinn began her acting career on Broadway, where she played Miss Higa Jiga in Lovely Ladies, Kind Gentlemen (1970). She also had an impressive stint as a member of the Katherine Dunham Company, showcasing her talent for African dance alongside Syvilla Fort. Born in Seattle, Washington, Chinn's heritage is of Hoisan Chinese descent. In 1969, she independently relocated to New York City.
