Lou Richards (1923-2017) was an Australian rules footballer who played 250 games for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1941 to 1955. He captained the team from 1952 to 1955, leading them to a premiership win in 1953. Richards was known for his skill and toughness as a rover. After his football career, he became a hotel manager and a highly prominent sports journalist in print, radio, and television for over 50 years. Born in Collingwood, Victoria, Richards came from a family with strong connections to the club, with three generations of his family having played for Collingwood, totaling over 1,200 games.
