Lucinda Gayl Williams (born January 26, 1953) is an American singer-songwriter and solo guitarist. She gained critical praise for her first two albums, Ramblin' on My Mind (1979) and Happy Woman Blues (1980), which showcased her traditional country and blues style. In 1988, Williams released her third album, Lucinda Williams, which received widespread acclaim and is considered an Americana classic. The album includes the song 'Passionate Kisses,' later recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Williams won her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song for 'Passionate Kisses' in 1994. Known for her deliberate pace, she released her fourth album, Sweet Old World, in 1992, earning further critical acclaim. Williams continues to be a highly respected figure in the Americana music genre.
