Luis Alberti (6 April 1906 – 26 January 1976) was a Dominican Merengue musician, arranger, conductor, and author of popular songs such as Compadre Pedro Juan. Born as Luis Felipe Alberti Mieses in La Vega, Dominican Republic, he came from a family with a musical background. His great-grandfather composed the first Dominican national anthem, and his mother was a piano professor. Alberti began his musical career at a young age, playing the cymbals in the municipal band of his hometown. He received formal violin training in Santa Cruz de Mao and Santiago de los Caballeros, and later played with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Santo Domingo. Throughout his career, Alberti contributed significantly to the world of Dominican music.
