    Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, better known by his stage name Lupe Fiasco, is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur. Born on February 16, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois, Fiasco rose to fame in 2006 with the release of his debut album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor. He gained further recognition as the frontman of the rock band Japanese Cartoon, using his real name. Fiasco has also served as the chief executive officer of 1st and 15th Entertainment. His interest in hip hop developed after initially disliking the genre's use of vulgarity and misogyny. Fiasco was signed to Atlantic Records with the help of rapper Jay-Z and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards.
