Lynn Hunter Biography
Lynn Hunter (born 20 January 1947 in Comox, British Columbia) is a Canadian politician and former member of the House of Commons of Canada. She served as a New Democratic Party member of Parliament from 1988 to 1993, representing the Saanich—Gulf Islands electoral district. Prior to her political career, Hunter graduated with distinction in Political Science and History from the University of Victoria in 1985. She then worked as the Vancouver Island Coordinator for OXFAM Canada, where she conducted a fact-finding trip to Sudan and Eritrea in 1986 to assess the effects of war and famine. Hunter served on various Parliamentary Committees, including the Environment Committee and the Canadian Constitution Committees. After losing in the 1993 federal election, she worked as an aquaculture specialist from 1994 to 2006.
