Manoj Nelliyattu 'M. Night' Shyamalan, born on August 6, 1970, is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. Known for his contemporary supernatural plots and twist endings, Shyamalan has directed several successful original films, with a cumulative gross exceeding $3.4 billion worldwide. Born in Mahé, India, he was raised in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania. Some of his early works include 'Praying with Anger' (1992) and 'Wide Awake' (1998). However, it was his breakthrough film, 'The Sixth Sense' (1999), that garnered him Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. He followed it with successful films like 'Unbreakable' (2000), 'Signs' (2002), and 'The Village' (2004). After a period of setbacks, he made a career comeback with films such as 'The Visit' (2015), 'Split' (2016), 'Glass' (2019), 'Old' (2021), and the upcoming 'Knock at the Cabin' (2023). Shyamalan is also an executive producer on some of his projects.
