Mackenzie Phillips, born Laura Mackenzie Phillips on November 10, 1959, is an American actress and singer. She gained recognition for her roles in various films and TV shows. One of her most notable performances was as Carol Morrison in the popular film American Graffiti. She also portrayed Julie Mora Cooper Horvath on the sitcom One Day at a Time and played Molly Phillips on the Disney Channel series So Weird. Mackenzie was born in Alexandria, Virginia, to John Phillips, a member of the band The Mamas & the Papas, and his first wife, Susan Stuart Adams. She attended Highland Hall Waldorf School in Northridge, California. With her talent for acting, Mackenzie got her break in the industry at just 12 years old when she was cast in American Graffiti.
