Maggie Cassella is an American-Canadian actress, comedian, and writer. She is best known for hosting the Canadian television talk show Because I Said So and founding the We're Funny That Way! comedy festival. Cassella holds a double degree in philosophy and women's studies and initially worked as a teacher at a private boarding school in Connecticut. However, she later attended law school and practiced as a lawyer for almost ten years, specializing in cases involving people with AIDS, transitional issues around marriage, and advocating for gay adoption. Eventually, Cassella left the legal profession to pursue a career in comedy.
