Dame Margaret Natalie Smith, born on December 28, 1934, is an English actress with a career spanning over seven decades in theatre, film, and television. Known for her wit in comedic roles, Smith began her stage career at the Oxford Playhouse in 1952 and made her professional debut on Broadway in 1956. She has worked for the National Theatre Company and the Royal Shakespeare Company, establishing herself as one of Britain's most prominent theatre performers alongside Judi Dench. Smith has received two Academy Awards for her roles in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) and California Suite (1978).
