Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is a Canadian actress, born on December 28, 2001, known for her leading role as Devi Vishwakumar in the Netflix teen comedy series Never Have I Ever (2020–2023) and for her voice role in the Pixar film Turning Red (2022). Born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, she comes from Eelam Tamil Hindu parents who immigrated to Canada as refugees from Sri Lanka. Ramakrishnan identifies herself as Tamil Canadian. She attended Lisgar Middle School and graduated from Meadowvale Secondary School. In her last year at Meadowvale, she decided to pursue acting and landed the role in Never Have I Ever. Ramakrishnan deferred her acceptance to the theatre program at York University to shoot the series in Los Angeles.
