Malachy McCourt Biography
Malachy Gerard McCourt (born September 20, 1931) is an Irish-American actor and writer. He gained recognition as the younger brother of author Frank McCourt. McCourt was born in New York City to Irish parents and was raised in Limerick, Ireland. He returned to the United States in 1952. McCourt has appeared in stage productions, on television, and in various films. He notably portrayed himself in the film adaptation of his brother's memoir, Angela's Ashes. In addition to his acting career, McCourt is an accomplished writer and ran as the Green Party candidate for governor in New York State in 2006.
