Mamoudou Athie (born 1988) is an American actor known for his roles in film and television. He gained recognition for his Broadway debut in The Mystery of Love and Sex in 2015. Athie has had supporting roles in various films such as Patti Cake$, The Circle, Unicorn Store, The Front Runner, Underwater, and Jurassic World Dominion. He has also appeared in TV shows including The Get Down, The Detour, Sorry for Your Loss, and Cake. Athie received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for his performance in Cake. He was born in Mauritania and his father sought political asylum in the U.S. when Athie was six months old.
