Margaret Colin is an American actress known for her roles as Margo Hughes on As the World Turns and as Eleanor Waldorf-Rose on Gossip Girl. Born on May 26, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York City, she was raised in Baldwin, New York. Colin is of Irish descent and was brought up in a Catholic family. She graduated from Baldwin Senior High School in 1976 and later attended Hofstra University. Colin began her acting career in the soap opera The Edge of Night and gained recognition for her portrayal of Margo Montgomery on As the World Turns, a role she played for nearly 30 years. She has also appeared on primetime television shows like Foley Square, Leg Work, and Chicago Hope, among others.
