Maria Shriver Biography
Maria Owings Shriver is an American journalist, author, and member of the Kennedy family. Born on November 6, 1955, she began her journalism career at CBS station KYW-TV and later joined NBC News in 1986. Shriver has anchored weekend editions of the Today show and the NBC Nightly News, and served as a correspondent for Dateline NBC. In 2004, she left NBC News to focus on her role as First Lady of California, but returned in 2013 as a special anchor. Shriver is also the founder of the nonprofit organization The Women's Alzheimer's Movement. She has been recognized for her reporting with a Peabody Award and as co-anchor for NBC's Emmy-winning coverage of the 1988 Summer Olympics.
