Mariko Nagai

Mariko Nagai is a Japanese-born poet and writer who writes in English. She was born in Japan but grew up in Belgium, Japan, California, and Tennessee. Nagai earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University and later a graduate degree from New York University. Currently, she serves as a Professor of creative writing and Japanese literature, as well as the director of research at Temple University, Japan Campus in Tokyo. Nagai has published several works, including 'Under the Broken Sky,' 'Irradiated Cities,' 'Dust of Eden,' 'Instructions for the Living,' 'Georgic: Stories,' and 'History of Bodies: Poems.' Throughout her career, she has received various accolades, such as the Erich Maria Remarque Fellowship from New York University, fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center and Akademie Schloss Solitude, and UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for the Arts. Nagai was also a finalist in the 2010 Leapfrog Press G.
