Marion Lois Jones (born October 12, 1975), also known as Marion Jones-Thompson, is an American former world champion track-and-field athlete and former professional basketball player. She gained prominence by winning three gold medals and two bronze medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. However, Jones later admitted to using steroids and subsequently had her medals stripped. She was involved in the BALCO scandal, a performance-enhancing substance usage scandal that implicated numerous high-profile athletes. Apart from her athletics career, Jones also played professional basketball in the Women's National Basketball Association, representing the Tulsa Shock from 2010 to 2011. Marion Jones holds dual citizenship with the United States and Belize.
