Mark Ivanir is a Ukrainian-born Israeli actor known for his character roles on American film and television. He is fluent in six languages, which is often showcased in his performances. Ivanir was born in Chernovtsi, Ukrainian SSR and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1972. Raised in a multilingual household, he speaks Hebrew, Ukrainian, Russian, and English. Ivanir's father was an English teacher, while his mother was a German teacher. His maternal grandfather, Meshulem Surkis, was a prominent Yiddish writer, journalist, actor, and theatre critic.
