Mark Knopfler Biography
Mark Knopfler is a British singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He was born on August 12, 1949, in Glasgow and raised in Blyth, near Newcastle. After earning a degree from the University of Leeds, Knopfler co-founded the rock band Dire Straits with his brother David Knopfler. As the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter of Dire Straits, he contributed to the band's success, including the popular album 'Brothers in Arms'. After the band dissolved in 1995, Knopfler pursued a solo career and has since released nine solo albums. He is also known for composing and producing film scores for movies such as 'Local Hero', 'Cal', 'The Princess Bride', and 'Wag the Dog'.
