Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, known as 'Kos', is an American blogger and political commentator. He is the founder and publisher of Daily Kos, a popular liberal and Democratic Party-focused blog in the United States. Additionally, Moulitsas co-founded SB Nation, a network of sports blogs. Born on September 11, 1971, in Chicago to a Salvadoran mother and Greek father, he moved to El Salvador in 1976 but returned to the Chicago area in 1980 due to threats from communist insurgents during the Salvadoran Civil War. After graduating from Schaumburg High School, Moulitsas served in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1992.
