Martha Greenhouse

Martha Greenhouse (1921-2013) was an American stage, film, and television actress, as well as an actors' union leader. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, she graduated from Hunter College High School in 1939. Greenhouse had a successful career on both on- and off-Broadway stages. Her film credits include appearances in The Stepford Wives, Bananas, Daniel, and Tomorrow Night. She also made notable TV appearances on series such as Route 66, Car 54, Where Are You?, Law & Order, The Jackie Gleason Show, The Phil Silvers Show, Ryan's Hope, and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. Greenhouse served as AFTRA's New York branch president for five terms and was a member of the Screen Actors Guild's National Board. She received several awards for her union service, including the Founder's Award and the Ken Harvey Award.
