Martin Compston (born 8 May 1984) is a British actor and former professional footballer. He is best known for his portrayal of Anti-Corruption Unit Detective Inspector Steve Arnott in the BBC drama Line of Duty. Compston has also appeared in various other notable roles, including Liam in Ken Loach's Sweet Sixteen, Paul Ferris in The Wee Man, Ewan Brodie in Monarch of the Glen, and Dan Docherty in The Nest. Born and raised in Greenock, Scotland, Compston attended St Columba's High School in neighbouring Gourock. Before embarking on his acting career, he was a youth player with Aberdeen and later played for Greenock Morton. Compston's talent and versatility have made him a respected figure in the entertainment industry.
