Martin Shaw Biography
Martin Shaw is an English stage, television, and film actor, born on January 21, 1945, in Birmingham. He gained national recognition for his role as Doyle in the ITV crime-action television drama series The Professionals from 1977 to 1983. Shaw has had several notable television parts, including the title roles in The Chief (1993-1995), Judge John Deed (2001-2007), and Inspector George Gently (2007-2017). He has also appeared on stage and in films, and narrated numerous audiobooks. Shaw attended Great Barr School, where he excelled in English literature and drama. Despite being offered a scholarship to a Birmingham drama school, he declined and moved to London to study acting at the London Academy of Music.
