Mary Alice Williams (born March 12, 1949) is a pioneering journalist and broadcast executive. She made history as the first female Prime Time anchor of a network news division and the first woman to hold the rank of Vice President of a news division. Williams has had a notable career in the media industry, working at various prominent networks such as CNN, PBS, Discovery, and NBC. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was the second of five children. Williams began her journalism career in high school as a reporter for KSTP-TV and continued reporting while studying at Creighton University. She has also contributed to NBC News on the political assassination beat.
