Mary Black

Mary Black (born 23 May 1955) is an Irish folk singer known for her interpretations of both traditional folk and modern material. Born into a musical family in Dublin, Ireland, Black began singing traditional Irish songs at the age of eight. She gained experience performing with her siblings in small clubs around Dublin. In 1975, she joined the folk band General Humbert and toured Europe, releasing two albums. Black embarked on a solo career in 1982 and has since become a major recording artist in Ireland. With her expressive voice and emotive performances, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the folk music scene.
