Mary Jo Pehl is an American writer, actress, and comedian born on February 27, 1960, in Circle Pines, Minnesota. She gained recognition for her roles on the television series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). Pehl served as a writer on the show and played various characters. From 1992 to 1996, she portrayed the role of 'Magic Voice,' a disembodied woman's voice that announced upcoming commercials. In 1996, Pehl took on the character of Pearl Forrester, the mother of Dr. Clayton Forrester, eventually becoming the head 'mad' on the show. She also played other smaller roles, including 'Jan in the Pan,' inspired by the movie The Brain That Wouldn't Die. Pehl's contributions to MST3K have made her a notable figure in the industry.
