Mary Wimbush Biography
Mary Wimbush (19 March 1924 – 31 October 2005) was an English actress with a career spanning sixty years. She was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1969 film Oh! What a Lovely War. Wimbush appeared in various film, television, theatre, and radio productions throughout her career. Some of her notable television credits include Poldark (1975–77), Jeeves and Wooster (1990–92), and Century Falls (1993). From 1992 until her death, she played Julia Pargetter in the popular BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers. Born in Kenton, Middlesex, Wimbush was educated at Berkhamsted School for Girls before training at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
