Matthew James Klotz is an American male deaf swimmer born on May 24, 1996. He is known for representing the United States at the Deaflympics and other international events, showcasing his exceptional swimming skills. Klotz has achieved world record status in swimming for the deaf community, solidifying his position as one of the top deaf swimmers from the USA. His success began at the 2013 Summer Deaflympics in Bulgaria, where he won two gold medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke events, along with a bronze in the 400m individual medley category. In the 2017 Summer Deaflympics, he continued his impressive performance, securing five medals, including three golds in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke events. Klotz further demonstrated his prowess by breaking two deaf world records, including his own record in the men's 50m backstroke event, during the 2018 US National Swimming Championship.
