Matt Newton

Matt Newton (born May 11, 1977) is an American actor, filmmaker, and acting coach. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he was raised in Guilford, Connecticut. Newton comes from a family with a musical background, including his grandfather, arranger and composer Bruce Chase, and grandmother, violinist Fannie Chase. He has English, Czech, Norwegian, French, and Scottish ancestry. Newton began his acting career in high school, performing in musicals and plays at local theaters. He later studied at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center and Vassar College, earning a B.A. in Drama. Moving to New York City in 1999, he appeared in television series like 'Strangers With Candy,' 'Judging Amy,' and 'Gilmore Girls.' He made his film debut alongside Jeremy Renner and Bruce Davison.
