Matthew Holness

Matthew James Holness (born 1975) is an English comedian, writer, director, and actor. He is best known for creating and portraying the fictional horror author Garth Marenghi. Born in Whitstable, Kent, Holness developed a fascination with Hammer horror films at a young age. He attended Chaucer Technology School in Canterbury and later studied English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. As a member of the Cambridge Footlights, Holness performed in several shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He has appeared in various television shows and films, showcasing his comedic talents. Holness continues to contribute to the entertainment industry through his work as a writer, director, and actor.
