Matthew Scurfield is an English actor born on 2 February 1948 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. He is the eldest child of author George Scurfield and Cecilia Scurfield (née Hopkinson). Scurfield has appeared in various theatrical productions, including 'Two Gentlemen of Verona,' 'The Life of Henry the Fifth,' and 'A Chaste Maid in Cheapside' at The Globe. He has also performed in 'The Street of Crocodiles' at the Theatre de Complicite and the National Theatre, as well as in 'The Trial' at the National Theatre. Scurfield's television credits include roles in 'The Sweeney,' 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy,' and 'Open All Hours.' He published his autobiography, 'I Could Be Anyone,' in 2008.
