Matthew Shear

Matthew Shear is an American actor known for his roles in films and television shows. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Tony in Noah Baumbach's Mistress America, alongside Greta Gerwig and Lola Kirke. Shear is also recognized for his role as Detective Lucius Isaacson in the TNT series The Alienist, based on Caleb Carr's novel. He has appeared in notable films such as Taking Woodstock and The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) directed by Noah Baumbach. Shear graduated from St. John's College—Annapolis in 2008. With his talent and versatile performances, Shear continues to impress audiences with his work in both film and television.
