She gained recognition as the co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a popular television series that aired on ABC from 2013 to 2020. Born in Los Angeles, California, Tancharoen has worked in various roles within the entertainment industry, including acting, writing, production assisting, showrunning, and executive producing. She began her career as a production assistant on shows like NYPD Blue and Brooklyn South before co-executive producing DanceLife with her brother and Jennifer Lopez. Tancharoen has also co-produced episodes of the Starz series Spartacus. In 2001, she sold her first paid script, an untitled pitch about two Asian American FBI agents working undercover in South Central Los Angeles.
