Max von Essen

Max von Essen (born January 11, 1974) is an American stage and screen actor, and vocalist. He is known for his appearances in various Broadway productions and national tours. Raised on Long Island, von Essen graduated from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He started his career touring with Liza Minnelli. Von Essen made his Broadway debut in Jesus Christ Superstar in 2000, and later appeared in Les Misérables and Dance of the Vampires. He has also toured Europe in West Side Story and was a cast member of the U.S. national tour of Chicago. Von Essen is openly gay and is a member of the Von Essen family, who have ties to German and Swedish nobility.
