Mayuto Correa

Mayuto Correa (born March 9, 1943) is a Brazilian percussionist, guitarist, and composer. Born in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, he began playing in local bands at the age of 12, eventually forming the ensemble Samba Show. In the 1960s, Correa served as the artistic director of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, writing and directing several plays. He also worked as a musical director for renowned shows and artists such as Maria Bethânia, Elza Soares, Eliana Pittman, and Roberto Carlos. Correa later moved to Mexico, where he collaborated with the bossa nova group Tamba 4. He then settled in the United States and established himself as a respected musician.
