McLean Stevenson Biography
McLean Stevenson (November 14, 1927 – February 15, 1996) was an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his role as Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake in the television series M*A*S*H, which earned him a Golden Globe Award in 1974. Stevenson also appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Doris Day Show, and Match Game. Born in Normal, Illinois, he was the great-grandson of William Stevenson and a second cousin once removed of Adlai E. Stevenson II. Stevenson attended Bloomington High School and Lake Forest Academy before serving in the United States Navy. He had a successful career in television and film before his death in 1996.
