Meg Foster, born Margaret Foster on May 14, 1948, is an American film and television actress. She is known for her roles in various productions, including the 1979 TV miniseries version of The Scarlet Letter, as well as films such as Ticket to Heaven, The Osterman Weekend, and They Live. Raised in Rowayton, Connecticut, Foster studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York. Her acting career began in the late 1960s with roles in productions like John Brown's Body and The Empire Builders. She also briefly portrayed Detective Christine Cagney in the first season of the Cagney & Lacey TV series before being replaced by Sharon Gless.
