Meg Ryan (born Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra; November 19, 1961) is an American actress. She began her acting career in 1981 with the drama film Rich and Famous. Ryan gained popularity in the 1980s with roles in Top Gun, Promised Land, and the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally..., earning a Golden Globe nomination. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, she appeared in numerous films including Sleepless in Seattle, French Kiss, You've Got Mail, and Kate & Leopold. In addition to her acting career, Ryan made her directorial debut in 2015 with Ithaca. She is set to return to the screen in the upcoming romantic comedy What Happens Later (2023), which she also directed.
