Mekhi Phifer (born December 29, 1974) is an American actor known for his roles in movies and TV shows. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Dr. Greg Pratt on NBC's medical drama ER until 2008. Phifer had a co-starring role alongside rapper Eminem in the 2002 film 8 Mile. He also appeared as Ben Reynolds on the Fox crime show Lie to Me and played CIA officer Rex Matheson in Torchwood: Miracle Day. Born in Harlem, New York City, Phifer grew up in a single-parent household with his mother, a high-school teacher. He made his breakthrough in Spike Lee's Clockers and has since appeared in various films and TV shows.
