Mel Harris (born July 12, 1956) is an American actress best known for her role as Hope Murdoch Steadman in the ABC drama series Thirtysomething (1987–1991), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination in 1990. Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Harris grew up in North Brunswick, New Jersey, where she graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1974. Before her acting debut in 1986, Harris appeared as a regular contestant on the game show The $100,000 Pyramid. She made her television debut in 1986, and since then, has had various roles in both TV shows and movies.
