Melissa de la Cruz (born 1971) is a Filipina-American writer known for her work in young adult fiction. She is best known for her young-adult series including Au Pairs, the Blue Bloods, and The Beauchamp Family. Born in Manila, Philippines, de la Cruz immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 13. She attended Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco and later studied art history and English at Columbia University in New York City. After graduation, she worked as a computer consultant. De la Cruz is married to writer Michael Johnston, and they have a daughter. They currently reside in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California.
