Michael Buffer (born November 2, 1944) is an American ring announcer and MC for boxing, professional wrestling, and National Football League events. He is known for pioneering a distinct announcing style, adding inflections and rolling certain letters in a fighter's name. Buffer's trademarked catchphrase, 'Let's get ready to rumble!', has become iconic. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Buffer was raised by foster parents after his parents' divorce. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and held various jobs before starting his career as a ring announcer at the age of 38. In 2019, he was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame.
