Michael Louis Chernus (born August 8, 1977) is an American actor known for his work in film, television, and theater. He gained recognition for his role as Cal Chapman in the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019). Chernus also portrayed Phineas Mason / Tinkerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). Born in Rocky River, Ohio, he graduated from the Juilliard School's Drama Division. Chernus received critical acclaim for his stage performances, winning a 2011 Obie Award and earning a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for his role in Lisa Kron's In the Wake at The Public Theater. He has appeared in various New York theaters including Playwrights Horizons, Roundabout Theatre Company, and New York Theatre Workshop.
