In addition to his acting career, Black is a prolific author, having written several children's books and four books for adults. Born on August 12, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, Black grew up in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey. He attended Hillsborough High School. Black's parents divorced when he was three years old, and his mother later came out as a lesbian. He has a Jewish background.
