Michael Jai White is an American actor, director, and martial artist. He gained recognition as the first African American to portray a major comic book superhero in the 1997 film Spawn. White has appeared in various Tyler Perry films, including Why Did I Get Married? and its sequel, as well as the TV series Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse. He also portrayed Jax Briggs in Mortal Kombat: Legacy and the Cyborg Seth in Universal Soldier: The Return. White displayed his versatility by playing boxer Mike Tyson in the HBO television film Tyson and the title role in the blaxploitation parody film Black Dynamite. Additionally, he is skilled in nine different martial arts styles.
